The American Red Cross made 2010 the ninth year that the Proud To Be American License Plate has been available. This attractive plate is more than just a symbol of ones pride and commitment to the values of America, but a contribution to help fund many of the programs administered by the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army.

Over the past 8 years 72 counties in the state of Michigan have directly benefited from these funds in the form of education and direct disaster relief. Over 26,000 volunteers have received training and more than 22,089 local single family disasters, such as house fires, tornados, and floods have been responded to. These funds help us provide the families with the necessities to meet their immediate needs by supplying them with food, clothing, shelter, and replacement medications to help them maintain their dignity and begin the recovery process.

On your birthday this year the Michigan Secretary of State is going to ask you to destroy your old blue license plate and we encourage you to ask for the Proud To Be American License Plate as a replacement.
